Personal training is an opportunity to work one-on-one with a qualified fitness specialist. GJF's personal trainer, Shawna, has the background, knowledge, and experience essential in designing a program that will work for you. The GJF mission is to provide you with the skills, strength, and knowledge to set and obtain your goals. I am committed to helping you reach your fitness goals in a motivational, knowledgeable and non-judgmental atmosphere.

My main responsibility as your personal fitness trainer is to assess, instruct, and coach both individuals and small groups in various exercises and activities. After conducting an initial fitness assessment I will establish a profile for each client so they have a "benchmark" to build from; allowing me to monitor progress so I know:

  • Where the client is coming from
  • How they got to where they are today
  • And serves as a basis for me to reasonably project where they will be going in the near future

By continually evaluating my client's past and present physical fitness levels I help them to set and achieve realistic goals.

Some other activities I'm involved with as your personal fitness trainer also include (but are not limited to):

  • Motivating clients
  • Assisting clients in various breathing & stretching techniques
  • Identify specific training wants & needs
  • Actively observe client's exercise movements to minimize any risk or injury
  • Develop instructional fitness programs based on client's individual needs
  • Monitor and communicate client progress
  • Demonstrate the bio-mechanics of prescribes exercises & any other physical activities

I will also consistently share new and relevant fitness/health/wellness information and other useful tools that can be used as a resource in regards to nutrition, weight control, and other lifestyle issues.

While under the tutelage of a personal trainer, you do not have to design your own program of fitness, constantly wondering whether you are doing the right exercises in the right way.  I will create a customized blueprint that will help you achieve your goals.
